Tyson HAT firmware and the Windows apps have separate version numbers. The firmware download above is 3.10.15; Discovery is 1.0.3 and Firmware Installer is 1.0.1. Select the downloaded USB release using Choose Release ZIP in the installer. Installing or updating a Windows app alone does not update a HAT.
Use a firmware package for the intended controller and printer integration. The included firmware is the Bambu-connected ESP32-S2 build; it is not a Prusa firmware package.
| Method | Use it for | Required file |
|---|---|---|
| Dashboard Firmware Update | Updating a HAT already using the compatible web-update layout | The release's Tyson application .bin |
| Windows Firmware Installer over USB | First installation, older flash layouts, recovery, or a complete compatible release | Bundled firmware or a complete Tyson USB release .zip |
Web updating requires the compatible dual-slot layout introduced in v3.8.65 and an ESP32-S2 with at least 4 MB flash. If the dashboard says web updates are unavailable, use the Firmware Installer to install a complete compatible package.
Finish printing and any calibration before updating. A firmware installation restarts the HAT and temporarily interrupts heater control and temperature mapping, even though recent firmware may allow the upload button during active operation.
Record the current version under Settings > About and download useful calibration backups. Normal updates retain saved settings and calibration; Factory Reset is a separate destructive operation and is not part of this workflow.
Do not choose a ZIP, ELF, bootloader, or full-flash image in this form. The web updater checks the application image before selecting it for boot. Cancel Upload is available while the transfer is running; after a successful installation has been accepted, wait for restart rather than interrupting power.
If the connection drops near completion, the result may be uncertain. Reopen the dashboard and check its running version before uploading again. Discovery can help if the router assigned a new IP.
Follow the Firmware Installer guide. It installs a complete release, checks compatibility, verifies written data, and preserves saved Wi-Fi, printer settings, and calibration. Keep the USB data cable connected until completion.
Upgrading from 3.10.3 to 3.10.4 preserves saved dashboard credentials, developer codes and an explicitly disabled security setting. There is no need to recreate an account for the hashing optimization. A restart still ends browser sessions; sign in again with the saved account. The eight-byte custom-password minimum and 600,000 hashing rounds are unchanged.
Confirm the version, selected printer, temperature readings, and expected control state. Saved mapping and bed-control preferences can be restored after startup checks, but do not assume an interrupted heating target has been recovered. Set the intended target again deliberately when the installation is ready.
If the new firmware does not finish startup verification and resets, the compatible bootloader can return to the previous application. Check the version actually running rather than assuming that a completed upload proves the new version remained active.
